The Rochester pole series was developed due to the demand for traditional looking street light poles with flared bases. There is a growing trend for downtown squares upgrading their walkway and street lighting and installing post mounted fixtures on top of Victorian style flared base light poles. Typically, these poles were cast aluminum or cast iron. However, costs and maintenance for these types of materials are high and have created an opportunity for maintenance-free prestressed concrete light poles.
Lonestar Prestress Mfg., Inc. (LPMI) is one of the first static cast, prestressed concrete, pole manufacturers to actually manufacture flared base poles. The Rochester Series pole was the result of collaboration between Electra Limited and LPMI for a town center in Rochester Hill, Michigan (See photo).
Our engineering department took the task of designing a mold which would allow a monolithically cast, flared base, static cast pole. Currently, there are mounting heights available between 7' and 16' with both direct embed and base plate versions available. Finishes range from many colors of exposed aggregate to polished. The Rochester Series compliments LPMI's other architectural pole called The Waterford Series.
